Safety information for all users

Most sockets in the UK comply with BS1363 these are three square (oblong) pin, 13Amp accessories, all of them are rated at no more than 13 amps, that includes double sockets and 4 or 6 gang extension leads, As a very rough guide 3Kw = 13amps, this means if you have two or more items pluged into a double socket, the total load must not be greater than 13amps or 3Kw. most Kettles and toasters and irons are heavy users of electricity. there should be a label on every appliance telling you what the maximum power is. so if your kettle is 2.5Kw and your toaster is 2Kw if you plug them into the same double socket and turn them both on at the same time you could cause a fire
